We designed this chain mortiser specifically for the professional North American timber framing trade, improving on the existing mortisers out there, and building in the features that you, our customers, want. Built in Switzerland for the best quality available anywhere.

Overview

• Our most rugged, yet ergonomic chain mortiser, designed with the advice of our customers. This power tool has the weight, the quality and substance for continuous carpentry work
• Plunges into the wood as easily as it comes up, thanks to a gas spring assist and space age materials.
• Heavy-duty, Swiss-made high torque motor provides superb, reliable power
• Toggle safety switch for comfortable and safe handling
• Adjustable fence, with large lock lever for cross-grain mortising
• Heavy-duty guide posts made of polished hard chromed solid steel are standard features on this model of chain mortisers
• Shock absorption with gas spring during plunge of bar/chain into the timber
• Bar/chain tension adjustment stabilized with solid metal key inside reinforced housing
• Line-of-sight to chain/mortise scribe adjustment
• Bar and chain made to our specifications to give you unrivalled, clean mortise or slot holes

Motor / Transmission

• 2000 Watt Suhner Industrial motor with electronic controller (designed for continuous operation)
• Motor soft start (buffers motor and transmission) not available on Hema or Mafell
• Transmission shaft locking with key (cannot loosen as with Hema)
• Motor can be removed without complete dismantling of transmission (Hema)

Chain/chip ejection

• Chain-set, compatible with Mafell and Hema
• Bar assembly onto solid metal key (ST-50), (will not bend like Mafell)
• Chip ejection assisted by air exhaust.(new!), and wider exit chute
• Chain size of 40x50 mm possible (Mafell and Hema only to 28x50mm, with wider chain fewer mortise plunges necessary)
  • Hard chromed chain supplied for double edge life
  • Longer bars/chain can be ordered (i.e. 8", 12")
• Motor exhaust is blown onto mortise cut, cleans it of accumulated chips, view of scribe is always clear.

Guides

• Guide shafts are made of polished hard-chromed heavy-gauged (1/4") tube.
• CNC turned, precise guide bushings of space-age material (ERTALITE) with extremely high wear and tear resistance and dry lubrication performance
• Heavy-duty gas spring for smooth return. (Larger size than Hema, exponentially stronger, much more resistant to wear)
• Gas spring will buffer bouncing, can be easily exchanged if needed, without fuss (extensive with Hema)
• Full depth of cut with standard bar (+6 1/2") (Unlike Hema and Mafell which stop at 5 7/8")
• Can be extended to special length, i.e. 8" or 12", on special order

Fence Setting

• Simple to adjust, lock and unlock. (Unlike Hema holds even on slightest clamping pressure, will not break like Mafell)
• Slide shaft made of polished, chromed steel (Better sliding, no wear and tear)
• Scale lasered-in (will not wear off)
• Scales in inches, optionally in metric
• Base setting to match chain width, exactly from 1 1/2" to 2" (Hema and Mafell have fixed measures for only 35 mm and 40 mm (metric only), causes errors and omissions)
• Red anodized positioning sleeve, simplifies clean view onto scale.

Depth setting (Only available on SwissPro KSP)

• Simple setting of depth measure (no ruler or measuring tape necessary)
• Depth scale in inches (metric on request).
• Scale is lasered in, will not rub off.
• Lock screw made of brass, will not damage guide shafts

Scribe scale (Only on the SwissPro KSP )

• Quick alignment of machine to scribe and mortise. (Aligns chain to mortise scribe, without needing to push chain down to check, saves time)
• Scribe scale available for all standard sizes (inches and metric)
